We are excited to welcome athletes, families, and visitors to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities for Special Olympics Minnesota. Here is some information about ongoing construction projects to keep in mind while getting to, from, and around campus. In addition to the information below, directional signage and detour routes will be clearly posted on and around campus.

University Avenue SE 

University Avenue SE is open to one lane of traffic between I-35W and 15th Avenue SE. The area is fully closed after 15th Avenue SE. The closures are a part of ongoing construction to improve the corridor. 

To park in the University Avenue Ramp

  1. Access northbound Walnut Street SE from Washington Avenue SE, Delaware Street SE, or Pillsbury Drive SE/Beacon Street SE.
  2. Cross to the far (north) side of University Avenue and turn left.
  3. Follow University Avenue to the west and turn left again into the University Avenue Ramp entrance.

I-94 at Huron Boulevard

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is working on bridge improvements along I-94 in Minneapolis. When coming to East Bank, keep in mind that: 

  • Entrances and exits at westbound I-94 are open to traffic.
  • Entrances and exits at eastbound I-94 are closed.
