Why are the chargers always full at my facility?

We are working with the University of Minnesota Police Department (UMPD) to issue tickets to customers not following posted signs.

Please be considerate of others and move your vehicle when charging is complete, and obey the posted time limit to allow for more users to gain access to the EV charging network. If you observe a vehicle abusing the privileges of parking in an EV charging spot, please report it through the Request for Parking Enforcement Form.

Can an EV charging station be installed in my contract facility?

There are no plans to add chargers to public facilities in the near future. If you would like to change your contract location to a facility that has an EV charger, you can get on the waiting list for that facility.

I am a parking contract holder. Can I get access to another facility to charge my EV?

We do not grant special contract access to other facilities for electric vehicle owners. Your contract offers access to other facilities for free during off-peak hours. Use of the charging stations is on a first come, first serve basis. If you would like to change your contract location to a facility that has an EV charger, you can get on the waiting list for that facility.

Is electric vehicle charging at the University free?

Yes, electric vehicle charging at the University is currently free, but the posted fee to park at the parking facility must be paid. We encourage the sustainability factor of EVs, along with using transit and other forms of active transportation. However, as the University's long-term role is not to become a fuel provider, plans are being developed to implement a fee based charging service.
