The area is open to traffic, but drivers should expect large delays. We advise planning an alternate route when possible.

  • University Avenue will be reduced to one lane between 10th Avenue SE and 15th Avenue SE beginning March 31

Transit

High impact

Transit is still operating but may be on detour. View rider alerts from Metro Transit and Campus Transit. Expect route delays.

Walk, bike, and scooter

High impact

The area is open to pedestrians and bikes/scooters, but a longer detour may be required (marked). We advise planning an alternate route when possible.

  • University Avenue's south sidewalk will be closed between 10th Avenue SE and 15th Avenue SE beginning March 31

Project updates

University Avenue will reduce to one lane between 10th Avenue SE and 14th Avenue SE the week of March 31.

Three major road construction projects will begin on and around the Twin Cities campus in Minneapolis starting next week and continuing into the fall.

The south lane of University Avenue will be closed after 9 a.m. Monday–Friday.

As the 4th Street project nears completion, permanent signals will be installed along 4th Street.

Fourth Street will be closed from 10th Avenue SE to I-35W from October 7–14. There will be no access to I-35W from Fourth Street.

The north drive lane of University Avenue will be closed from October 7 to 25.

Hennepin County will close 15th Avenue SE between Fourth and Fifth streets on Wednesday, September 4. The closure is expected to last about three weeks.

A single lane of University Avenue will be closed intermittently between I-35W and 13th Avenue.

Hennepin County’s Fourth Street improvement project is in full swing on the East Bank, and there are some important lane reductions and closures to be aware of.

Beginning Monday, July 1, Fourth Street will be reduced to one lane between Oak Street and 15th Avenue SE.

As part of the Fourth Street construction project we shared earlier this month, please be aware of two upcoming road closures.
