Media and Advertising

Video and still imagery is allowed in public spaces such as at campus bus stops and on campus buses as long as it does not interfere with the operation of campus transit. 

• If the person conducting a photo/video shoot is found to be violating any of PTS’ rider policies or causing disruption to other passengers, the person will be asked to stop. 
• Large crews and productions are considered disruptive to passengers and do need to be scheduled and approved in advance through University Relations - unews@umn.edu. 
• As a best practice, permission should be obtained from anyone appearing on camera prior to the shoot.

Metro Transit holds their own policies regarding capturing video and still photos on buses and light rails. The below information does not apply or override Metro Transit’s policies.

Advertising within parking facilities is restricted to internal departments and may only be done after an agreement is formalized.

Literature drops on vehicles are never allowed.

PTS does not allow outside advertisements on campus buses. University departments and students groups may contact PTS to request an exception.

PTS does not partner with external organizations in order to send mailings (physical or electronic) to University students, faculty, or staff. We may, on occasion, offer related external services in our communications when it fits the needs of the audience.

With the exception of the Transportation Fair, held each September, PTS does not sponsor or allow external organizations to table or host events on University property.

Parking & Transportation Services does not link to external websites except in very specific circumstances. This decision was made in accordance with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
