Fueling Information

Twin Cities campus vehicles

All Twin Cities campus University vehicles are issued a blue fuel fob for use at the Twin Cities campus pumps. Fueling directions are located at the pumps. The fuel fob can also be used for the automatic car wash at the Fleet Services Building. Drivers of University vehicles on the Twin Cities campus must fill up at the University's fuel pumps whenever possible.

Non-Twin Cites campus vehicles

For vehicles not located on the Twin Cities campus or that travel away from campus, a credit card to purchase self-service non-premium fuels is issued. The credit card is honored at 180,000 stations across the U.S.

In the event of a breakdown outside Fleet Services' service area, the fuel credit card can be used for emergency repairs/maintenance.

Electric vehicles

The popularity of electric vehicles grows each year. Fleet Services staff can assist you in navigating this transportation choice—what to buy, how to charge these vehicles, and where charging stations are on and off campus.

Environmental Commitment

The University of Minnesota strives to be a leader in sustainability and energy efficiency. With that goal in mind, Fleet Services strives to be a national leader, integrating sustainability in its everyday actions.

The University of Minnesota is one of the largest end users of E85 fuel in the state. Fleet Services actively meets Energy Policy Act (EPAct) requirements annually by making sure at least 75% of its light duty vehicle acquisitions are flexible fuel or hybrid vehicles.
