Bike Lockers and Shelters

Bike lockers are enclosed lockers that will keep your bike sheltered and out of sight. We have two types of lockers: individual and shared.

Individual

These lockers fit most standard bikes (4’ high X 6’ 6” deep X 3’ 3” wide, divided in half diagonally). Users receive their own personal locker key.

Shared

Shared lockers (or bike hangars) fit up to 6 bikes and are shared between users, each with their own key to the hangar. The dimensions of the hangar are 4′ 4″ high X 6′ 3″ deep X 8′ 1/2″ wide, with bike racks inside. We recommend users lock their bikes to the racks inside for them to be the most secure.

Bike locker contracts cost $40 per year, with an additional refundable key deposit for $60.

Bike locker contracts are in high demand and most locations have a wait list. We can put your name on a waiting list and requests will be prioritized in the order they are received.

To cancel, bring your locker key and U Card to our customer service station located in the U Card Office in Coffman. Once the key is verified, your deposit refund check will be mailed to you.

Your key must be in working order to receive the refund check.

If you cannot return your key in person, email [email protected] for mailing instructions.

• Only one bike per contract is permitted to park at a time. Violation may result in tagging, impounding, and/or revocation of the parking contract.
• The University of Minnesota assumes no responsibility for loss by fire, theft, or damage to your bicycle or other property while in the bicycle locker/sheltered parking facility.
• The University of Minnesota reserves the right to relocate bicycle lockers, their contents, and bicycles or other property in sheltered parking to other locations when necessary.
• The bike contract year runs from October 1–September 30.
• Invoices for the next annual billing cycle will be sent on August 15 each year to be paid by October 1.
• Once a contract is paid, it cannot be refunded.

Sheltered bike parking is available at the Washington Avenue Ramp, Oak Street Ramp, and 21st Avenue Ramp. The Oak Street Ramp sheltered bike parking includes access to the U of M Bike Center that has showers, restrooms, changing facilities, and lockers.

Sheltered bike parking contracts are $40 per year.

To cancel a sheltered bike contract fill in the Bike Shelter Contract Cancellation Form. If you are not able to access the form, email [email protected] to cancel.

• It may take up to 3 business days to grant access to the bike shelter after payment is received.
• Secured access to the sheltered parking will be removed in October if payment is not received.
