Bus-only freeway lanes and ramp meter bypasses can make your commute even faster. Several bus lines operate in the Twin Cities metro, and many have direct routes to the U.
Additionally, the METRO Green Line travels down Washington Avenue through the heart of the East Bank campus. The METRO Blue Line offers individuals quick and easy access to key destinations like the airport and the Mall of America. The Northstar Commuter Rail also provides convenience for those from the northwest corner of the suburbs.
Metro Mobility is also available for certified riders who cannot use regular fixed-route buses due to a disability or health condition.

Bus
Metro Transit
Metro Transit is the transportation resource for the Twin Cities, offering an integrated network of buses, light rail, commuter trains, and resources for those who carpool, vanpool, walk, or bike. Metro Transit is developing a network of enhanced transitways throughout the region.
Anoka County Transit
Anoka County has multiple city bus routes traveling within the county and to cities across the Twin Cities region.
Serves Anoka, Blaine, Columbia Heights, Coon Rapids, Elk River, Fridley, and Ramsey.
Maple Grove Transit
The City of Maple Grove operates the Maple Grove Transit system, offering the Express and My Ride services.
Minnesota Valley Transit Authority
Serving Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Rosemount, Savage, and Shakopee.
Plymouth Metrolink
Operated by the City of Plymouth, Metrolink provides express commuter routes to and from downtown Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota, as well as Click-and-Ride—an on-demand shuttle service for trips within the city.
SouthWest Transit
Providing public transit service for Chanhassen, Chaska, and Eden Prairie. Express bus service to Minneapolis, and the University of Minnesota.
Rail
METRO Green Line
The METRO Green Line runs from downtown Minneapolis to downtown St. Paul through the heart of campus along Washington Avenue. There are three stations on the U of M campus: West Bank, East Bank and Stadium Village.
METRO Blue Line
The METRO Blue Line runs from downtown Minneapolis to the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport and the Mall of America.
Northstar Line
The Northstar Line offers service between Big Lake and downtown Minneapolis, stopping at stations in Elk River, Ramsey, Anoka, Coon Rapids, and Fridley.
