There are a few parking options available to University departments.
Departmental base contract
Departments with University owned or leased vehicles can purchase a departmental contract to have a home location to park their vehicles. Departmental contracts do not offer reciprocal parking.
Details
Departmental contracts are subject to wait lists. To be added to a waitlist, please submit the Departmental Contract Request Form.
- Please see Parking Facilities for locations. We will contact you if a location you request is unavailable for departmental contracts.
- When your department comes up on a waitlist, you will receive an email from us offering a contract. If you accept the contract, your PTS Parking Card (PPC) or hangtag will be sent via campus mail to the campus mail code you submit with this form.
Rates
Contracts are quarterly billed to EFS. Charges are prorated when contracts are started, and refunds are prorated when contracts are canceled. Rates are subject to change.
- Lot: $74.29/month
- Ramp: $102.73/month
- Garage: $133.91/month
Departments can have a maximum of two PPCs/hangtags associated with their contract.

Official vehicle contract
Official vehicles are able to park in a variety of areas on campus.
Ramp contract
This contract gives you 24/7 access to a number of ramps. Should you forget your PTS Parking Card, you will be responsible for finding alternate parking and paying the facility fee. If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, come to the PTS office for a replacement. The charge for a replacement keycard is $20. Misuse of your card will result in the loss of your contract privileges.

- West Bank – 19th Avenue Ramp, 21st Avenue Ramp, West Bank Office Building Ramp (WBOB)

It costs $102.75/month (equivalent to the ramp rate minus the sales tax), billed to a EFS account. Fill out our Official Vehicle Contract Application to start one of these contracts.
Hangtag contract
This contract gives you 24/7 access to a variety of locations for a 3-hour time period. Departments receive only one hangtag permit per contract. Hangtags may be transferred to any vehicle you park at the university. Hangtags expire annually on September 30. (Minnesota State law requires you to remove your hangtag while driving.)
Misuse of your hangtag will result in the loss of your contract privileges.

Forgotton, lost, or stolen hangtags
Official Vehicles with no contract
University vehicles that are identifiable by the University logo and tax exempt license plates, but that are without Official University Vehicle permits, must pay the applicable parking rate when parking in Parking & Transportation Services’ facilities.
Metered parking
Official Vehicle hangtags may be used to park at meters. Be sure your hangtag is visible, or you may be cited.
This applies:
- To University-owned meters
- For two hours maximum
This does not apply:
- To non-University-owned meters (like city meters)
- Meters with a time-limit of one hour or less
Gopher Football impacts
- You ARE able to use official vehicle/vendor spaces during gameday Saturdays, however the vehicle must have a state license plate (absolutely NO private or personal vehicles allowed on gameday Saturdays)
- Your contract is NOT valid at meters on gameday Saturdays
- If you have a day-of emergency, please contact us prior to parking with the details at 612-626-PARK
- Visit Gopher Athletics for exact dates and times of the football games.
Loading Zone contract
A Loading Zone permit gives you 24/7 access to a University loading dock or posted Loading Zone space for 30 minutes when actively loading or unloading a vehicle. Each department receives only one hangtag permit per application. Hangtags may be transferred to any vehicle you need to park to load or unload on the Twin Cities campus.
Credentials
Display the hangtag by showing the printed side facing the windshield.
Hangtags are valid through September 30. (Minnesota State law requires you to remove your hangtag while driving.)
Misuse of your hangtag will result in the loss of your contract privileges.
It is available to University departments and external vendors.
Loading Zone hangtag permits are valid in designated loading zone spaces and University loading docks. Parking is strictly limited to 30 minutes. Exceeding this limit can result in a parking citation. Contact PTS in advance if an exception is needed.
After 30 minutes, a vehicle must move at least two blocks or 600 feet.
