Construction on five bridges along I-94 in Minneapolis will start in October 2024 and continue through November 2025. The bridges affected include:
- I-94 bridge (Dartmouth Bridge) that spans the Mississippi River
- Riverside Ave. bridge over I-94
- I-94 over Cedar Ave.
- I-94 over the Light Rail Transit (Blue Line)
- I-94 over Hwy 55/Hiawatha Ave.
- Franklin Avenue bridge and the Highway 55/Hiawatha Avenue area
During fall 2024, crews will occasionally close the northbound I-35W to eastbound I-94 ramp to construct crossovers, allowing them to shift traffic next year.
During construction in 2025, I-94 will be reduced to two lanes in both directions. Crews will temporarily close several ramps on I-94 in the project area, including those at Huron Boulevard, Riverside Avenue, Cedar Avenue, and the 6th Street and 7th Street ramps near downtown Minneapolis.
Parking & Transportation Services will continue to monitor updates and work with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to minimize the impact on campus transportation.
