Official presence grows with more TRIP Agents, Safety Ambassadors

Metro Transit is committed to providing a consistently safe, clean, and welcoming experience on transit.

A cornerstone of their work is strengthening the official presence on transit, including efforts to expand their Transit Rider Investment Program (TRIP). Metro Transit now has more than 70 TRIP Agents riding light rail daily between 5 a.m. and 1 a.m. TRIP Agents will be more visible on bus rapid transit lines as more are hired throughout the year.

This month, Safety Ambassadors from the St. Paul Downtown Improvement District will also begin working at light rail stations in downtown St. Paul and surrounding bus stops. These ambassadors will act as another set of eyes for public safety professionals while cleaning up trash and providing directions.

Efforts to recruit more police officers, Community Service Officers, and staff focused on cleaning and maintaining the Metro Transit system also continue.

New rider alert system

Metro Transit recently changed the service used to manage rider alert subscriptions and send out alert emails and text messages.

How to sign up

With this new service, subscribers will manage alert options through a metrotransit.org account. You can login to your existing account or sign up on the Metro Transit website.
