PTS Wins Two Association for Commuter Transportation National Awards

PTS is thrilled to share that the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) has awarded us for active commuting and public transit!

ACT is the top organization for commuter transportation and Transportation Demand Management (TDM) professionals. It aims to build a better transportation system by supporting those working on TDM, improving commuters' lives, making communities better, and boosting the economy.

Active commuting

Our Gopher Bikes program has been recognized for providing University of Minnesota students with accessible active transportation by repurposing bikes from a discontinued share program. Gopher Bikes helps get people riding regardless of income. The program’s success and positive feedback from students reflect its significant impact.

Public transit

The Universal Transit Pass (UTP) and Employee Transit Pass (ETP) programs have been recognized for enhancing accessibility and sustainability. The UTP provides unlimited public transit to over 39,000 students, while the ETP extends this benefit to faculty and staff. These passes significantly cut transit costs by 74% to just $1.75 per week, enhance access to healthy food and budgeted commuting, reduce carbon footprints, improve pedestrian safety, and ensure reliable transportation with frequent, predictable routes available day and night.

Both programs have boosted ridership and supported the University’s sustainability efforts.
