Parking Facility Lane Expansion Project Begins

Beginning June 19 and continuing through the summer, construction will be underway at eight parking facilities to add entry and/or exit lanes.

The facilities are 4th Street Ramp, Lot 58, University Avenue Ramp, Lot 37, Maroon Lot, Gold Lot, East River Road Garage and 19th Avenue Ramp.

Why is Construction Needed?

Additional lanes will assist in facilitating efficient access to parking and build in system redundancy to optimize the customer experience.

Key Things to Know

  • Facilities will remain open during construction, but the number of lanes and parking spaces available might be reduced.
  • While a facility is under construction, anticipate some delays and allow extra time.
  • Space may be limited near construction areas. Please follow the traffic control and posted signs. Do not park in signed/blocked-off areas. Drive and walk safely in construction areas.
  • Electric vehicle charging stations are impacted by this project. The timeframe is undetermined at this time. A fast-charger is an option at the Graduate Hotel meter lot (accessed from Walnut Street).
    • 4th Street and University Avenue Ramp chargers will be unavailable until they are relocated within their facilities.
    • Maroon Lot and Lot 37 will be unavailable until they are relocated within other facilities.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email parking@umn.edu.

We appreciate your patience and understanding with this project.
