Metro Transit route changes

On Saturday, Dec. 2, Metro Transit made changes to transit service throughout the metro. As always, these quarterly service changes adapt and adjust to current and projected ridership and Metro Transit's available resources and driver workforce.

Routes connected to the University

Route 3

  • Stop at 4th St. & Minnesota 4th restored. 
  • Schedule times adjusted to reflect restored routing.

Route 7

  • NOTE: Route will remain on detour until further notice. Schedule adjustments reflect anticipated return to regular routing on Plymouth Ave. between Lyndale and 2nd St. N. in late December.

Schedule for December 25 and January 1

Metro Transit and METRO buses and the METRO Blue and Green lines will follow Sunday/Holiday schedules on Christmas Day (Monday, Dec. 25) & New Year’s Day (Monday, Jan. 1).

The Transit Information Center, Metro Transit Service Centers, Customer Relations and Lost & Found are closed.

The northbound side of Harvard Street SE will be closed from 7 a.m.–3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 14 between East River Parkway and Delaware Street SE. M Health Fairview Medical Center - East Bank will only be accessible via southbound Harvard Street during this time.

Hennepin County will improve University Avenue and Fourth Street SE between Oak Street and I-35W.

The City plans to improve the intersection of 15th Ave. and 5th St. SE. in southeast Minneapolis to make it safer for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Gopher Bikes is a convenient full-service program to help you get around campus. Bicycles are available on a first-come, first-served basis as available. 

On March 16, Metro Transit will make changes to transit service throughout the metro. These quarterly service changes adapt and adjust service based on current and projected ridership, available resources, and driver workforce.

During construction, pedestrians and bicyclists will not be able to cross the full length of the bridge through fall 2025.

On February 5, the Gopher Way connections between the three buildings have reopened after construction.

Beginning on Tuesday, January 16, our in-person customer service hours will be available from 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. on weekdays, to align with team capacity.
