Part-Time Parking Program

Part-Time Parking Program

The Part-Time Parking Program is an option for those who need campus parking on an occasional basis.

University of Minnesota faculty; staff; and graduate and professional students without a current parking contract are eligible to purchase the program.

What is it?

  • PTS is selling the new Part-Time Parking Program NOW! See next section for more info.
  • There are three purchase options. In each case, the total cost is calculated at $8 per use:
    • 10 uses for $80
    • 16 uses for $128  (1x/week average)
    • 32 uses for $256 (2x/week average)
  • A use offers reduced-cost public parking at participating locations, subject to space availability.
  • A use allows an unlimited number of entries and exits in a 24-hour period of time from the first entry.
  • Access is granted at the participating locations at all hours, provided the reservation-only sign is not on. Access is blocked when the reservation-only sign is on.
  • Entry and exit machines display the number of uses remaining.
  • Reciprocal and Off-Peak parking do not apply.
  • Parking is not guaranteed at a specific location or at any location.
  • PTS expects to make Part-Time Parking Program passes available via the PTS smart phone app by the start of spring semester 2022.

How do I buy it?

Visit the Parking & Transportation Services Office in person. Program eligibility is limited to UMN faculty, staff, and graduate students without a current contract.

  • Sign up and pay with credit card, check, or cash at the PTS Customer Service desk.
  • Because the payment is not payroll-deducted, there is no pre-tax savings.
  • The purchase is non-refundable.
  • You may repurchase the program as many times as needed within the year, but the previous program must always be cancelled first. Be sure you have used your parking days before repurchasing. No refunds will be issued.
  • There is a delay between when you purchase the Part-Time Parking Program and when it can be used (processing time allows use on the next business day).  That means that you may need to pay cash or credit card for parking on the day that you purchase the Part-Time Parking Program. Your U Card or PTS Parking Card should work the following day.  Tip for public parking: know about the daily max! For example, 4th Street Ramp has a daily max of $13; other parking locations around the stadium (like Lot 37 and Maroon Lot) have a daily max of $6.
