Northbound I-35W ramp and I-94 lane closures begin Oct. 28

Beginning at 5 a.m. on Mon, Oct. 28, the ramp from northbound I-35W to eastbound I-94 will be closed through Fri, Nov. 29.

November 27: Closures are complete for the season and will resume in 2025.

The below update is being provided by the Minnesota Department of Transportation:

If you travel on northbound I-35W and I-94 in Minneapolis, you will need to plan your route in advance and give yourself additional time to reach your destination starting Oct. 28.

Beginning at 5 a.m. on Mon, Oct. 28, the ramp from northbound I-35W to eastbound I-94 will be closed through Fri, Nov. 29. Both directions of I-94 will also be reduced to two lanes between 11th Ave. South and Franklin Ave. Southeast.

You can bypass the ramp closure using northbound I-35W, eastbound Hwy 36, southbound I-35E and I-94

The lane and ramp closures are necessary to allow crews to build crossovers to shift traffic during construction on I-94 in 2025. Crews will be doing bridge maintenance work next year along I-94 between downtown Minneapolis and the Franklin Ave. bridge.
