University of Minnesota Twin Cities Contract Parking Rates Increase October 1
Thursday, September 22, 2022 - 16:20

University of Minnesota Twin Cities Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) released contract parking rate changes as approved through the Board of Regents and budget process for the 2022-23 academic year.

Beginning October 1, 2022, University of Minnesota Twin Cities parking contract rates will increase, depending on the facility type as detailed below. For many, the new parking rates will be deducted from paychecks from October 2022 until September 2023.

24-hour contract rates vary by facility type. A parking lot contract will cost $79 a month, an increase of $2 per month. A parking ramp contract will cost $111 a month, an increase of $2 per month. Most parking garages will cost $145 a month, an increase of $2 per month.

Where available, reserved contract spaces (optional add-on feature if approved), will increase an additional $6-9 per month (to a flat $25 per month, no matter what type of facility). This fee is added to a base parking contract cost.

Where available, evening parking contracts are affected as well. Evening lot contracts will cost $40 per month (up $2); evening ramp contracts will stay at $80 per month; and evening garage contracts will be $80 per month (down $24).

Motorcycle parking contract rates have not changed and contracts are still available for $14 a month in designated seasonal areas.

These changes are due to increasing costs for maintaining campus transportation infrastructure. PTS is a self-supporting department and each year examines its parking rates as part of developing a responsible and fair budget.

The University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus is the third largest traffic generator in Minnesota. University of Minnesota Parking & Transportation Services is committed to establishing, maintaining and improving a comprehensive transportation system that reduces congestion, eases accessibility and enhances a friendly university community.
